Hair Extension Care Tips

Washing
Before washing your Hair Extensions gently, brush the hair gently, starting from the bottom working your way to the top. When you begin washing, gradually wet your hair and massage the scalp gently all over using a downward flow/motion. Do not rub the hair together as this will cause tangling and make combing out and styling very difficult. When you have finished washing, flood your hair with warm water. Squeeze the excess water from the hair. Pat dry, do not rub.

Styling
When styling your hair brush using a soft bristle brush or a paddle brush with wide teeth (or a wide tooth comb for wavy/curly hair). Start at the ends of your hair and gently work your way up to the roots. Be careful with the use of blow-dryers and curling irons. It is best to let your hair dry naturally whenever possible.

Exercising
Wear a cap when swimming if possible although it is not recommended you expose your hair to chlorine. If in salt water, make sure to condition after swimming.

Blow Drying
Before blow-drying your Hair Extensions, it is a good idea to prepare and style the top section and fringe area. Then, using a cool setting on your dryer, tip your head forward and dry the root area. Using a hotter setting, blow-dry the hair section by section. Wrap hair around a bristle brush, or in the paddle brush, and hold the dryer over it (not on it) until the hair is dry.

Sleeping
Never sleep on wet hair. Make sure your hair is completely dry before you go to bed. It is also recommended to wrap your hair together or gently tie it up to prevent tangling. Spray a little conditioner in before tying up.

Hair Extension care

When it comes to Hair Extension Care, use a premium quality (leave-in) conditioner to keep your hair soft but don’t over do it. Too much conditioner can cause a build up and lea to tangling of the hair. Ask your stylist for advice on hair care products. If you extensions are applied using micro rings, avoid getting any product or conditioner on, or around the rings, as this will contribute to slipping.

Hair treatments
Avoid permanent colour if possible on your extensions because as with any hair, dye will reduce its life. Use a semi-permanent colour if you intend to colour your extensions, free of ammonia or peroxide bleach. Bleaching is not recommended as this can degrade the hair, especially if done incorrectly. There are many Hair Extension accessories available to help with maintaining your Hair Extensions so ensure you use good quality products regularly to keep your extensions looking and feeling great for a long time.

Avoid excessive pulling or picking of extensions as this may result in your natural hair breaking.
